El Matador Maternity Session – Malibu, CA | Prateek & Preeti

Before becoming a full-time photographer, Prateek and I worked together in the corporate world. We have both since moved on, but have I remained friends with him and his wife. When I learned Preeti was pregnant, I was SO happy for them, and even more elated when they asked me to photograph their maternity.

They decided they wanted a beach session, so I suggested Leo Carrillo or El Matador. Both close by and known for their rock formations and cliffs that make the background of a beach session a little more interesting. However, unlike any other time I have done a beach session, when we arrived, the tide was so high everyone was leaving because there was so little dry beach left! I have never seen waves that big there. So now, we would be fighting the water itself and the crowds all trying to get up the stairs to their cars. But Preeti looked so beautiful I knew we needed to try anyway (safely, of course!). And because of awesome clients willing to do pretty much anything I asked and an awesome assistant to carry my gear, we quickly powered through the waves and people and got some great stuff they will get to cherish forever! Below are a few of my favorites 🙂
