Backyard Wedding Venue: Family Home
Chris and Nicole grew up only about eight miles apart, but it took meeting online to find each other. Ever since they met and began dating they knew they wanted to be married in the backyard of the home in which Chris grew up. As you can imagine, the venue being Chris’s childhood home made the experience extra special. The ranch style home has a large yard that was able to accommodate a wedding ceremony and reception for 170 guests. With lots of help and hard work it was transformed into an intimate, country-chic setting. We made a quick stop at the nearby Orcutt Ranch for some pre-ceremony photos, which only complimented and added to their already rustic style.
Special Details
Chris and Nicole were both excited to have the opportunity to bring family and friends together to share their commitment to each other at such a special and beautiful place. Nicole’s goal in planning was for the day to be lots of fun, comfortable, memorable, and pretty.
Chris and his father draped market lights from a central wooden beam that created a soft, warm ambiance. They made over an old shed into a charming red barn. Nicole combined blush tones with pops of red in the flowers because that was important to Chris – red reminded him of his late grandfather who he was extremely close with. Each table centerpiece was unique – beautiful mis-matched antique dishes were used, chandeliers were hung in trees, and a tree swing was decorated with vine to create a romantic feel. There was plenty of comfort food and alcohol served while guests were greeted with a live band, following with a DJ after dinner for the rest of the night.
“All the little details and hours of hard word definitely paid off when we saw it all come
together with our guests enjoying themselves. There isn’t one detail that I’d change about our perfect May wedding day.”
– Nicole
