Jami & Phil | Leo Carrillo Beach Engagement Session – Malibu, CA

Getting to know Jami & Phil from church, and hearing their story, I was already excited to shoot their engagement session. What just put the icing on the cake was what Jami said to me right before we started shooting: “You are like…. the photographer of light, and we wanted you to tell OUR story.” I mean, I pretty much can’t receive a more meaningful comment than that – my two favorite things… light and love stories!

I think any session, whether lifestyle or engagement, should have something special to the client included doing the shoot. For this session, the beach is super important to both of them because they spend so much time there together. Jami loves collecting sea glass and heart-shaped rocks… so Phil thought that would be the perfect way to propose, and I have to agree! On Valentine’s Day, Phil had planned a picnic for Jami on the beach & they took a walk along the shore at sunset. Phil was a little ahead of Jami when he called out and told her to come and see the piece of sea glass he just found. As Jami walked over, she found him on one knee holding a diamond-solitaire ring and asking, “Will you marry me?” Jami was not expecting this at all and her eyes filled with joyous tears. They had talked about marriage and that it would be in their future, but he told Jami he just couldn’t wait another day! Congrats you two!
